AppStoreNov2009-300x250Apple has announced that developers have created over 100,000 apps for Apple’s App Store, which is, by the way, the largest applications store in the world.

The App Store is available in 77 countries, and customers have downloaded more than two billion apps so far.

“The App Store, now with over 100,000 applications available, is clearly a major differentiator for millions of iPhone and iPod touch customers around the world,” noted Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apple.

Oh, the Games!

A large part of the App Store’s success can be attributed to the games — lots and lots of games.

“The App Store has forever changed the mobile gaming industry and continues to improve,” noted Travis Boatman, vice president of Worldwide Studios for EA Mobile. “With a global reach of over 50 million iPhone and iPod touch users, the App Store has allowed us to develop high quality EA games that have been a huge success with customers.”
